Explore Spanish-Speaking Countries
A Spanish-speaking countries map connects language study with geography, but the category needs a definition. This round uses a conventional 20-sovereign-country classroom set: Spain, Equatorial Guinea and 18 countries in the Americas where Spanish is nationally official or widely used as the national language. It does not claim that these are the only places where Spanish is spoken. Puerto Rico is not a separate answer because this round uses sovereign countries rather than every Spanish-speaking territory. Spanish is also used in multilingual communities well outside the set. Start by locating Spain and Equatorial Guinea, then work through Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and South America. Do not assume that every Central or South American country belongs in the Spanish-language set. Belize, Brazil, Guyana and Suriname are useful reminders that geography and language categories are different. Compare a highlighted country with its neighbours before typing. If your class uses a 21-place list including Puerto Rico, account for that difference before comparing scores. The purpose is to learn a stated set of locations, not to erase the region’s other languages or its diverse cultural identities.

It uses a conventional 20-sovereign-country classroom set, including Spain and Equatorial Guinea. Language use outside that set is not excluded from real life.
Is Puerto Rico one of the answers?
Not in this sovereign-country round. Some classes include Puerto Rico in a 21-place study list, so check your curriculum’s convention.
Does Brazil belong in this Spanish-speaking countries quiz?
No. Brazil is not in this Spanish-language study set. It is included in the South America country-location quiz.
Which African country is included?
Equatorial Guinea is included in this round. The quiz is global rather than limited to Latin America.
Is Latin America identical to the Spanish-speaking world?
No. The terms describe different geographic and linguistic groupings. Spain and Equatorial Guinea illustrate why this round spans more than Latin America.
