Flag recognition rewards careful comparison rather than a quick glance at the most prominent colour. Several national flags share a palette, yet differ in stripe direction, order, proportions or a small central symbol. Begin by describing what you actually see: vertical or horizontal bands, a cross, a triangle, stars or an emblem. Those details give you a method for comparing the answer choices. The flags-of-the-world activity here draws 20 questions from a selected national-flag pool. It is not an exhaustive test of every country, territory or historical flag. The two practice directions test related skills. Flag-to-name asks you to recall a country from the image; name-to-flag asks you to recognize the correct image among alternatives. Try both before assuming that a high score in one transfers automatically to the other. The flag images are loaded from an external image service, so an unavailable image should be treated as a loading problem rather than a valid clue. Use the review to identify which visual detail separates a mistaken pair. A short second round of missed flags is a practical way to turn a guess into a reliable observation.

Frequently asked questions
Can I switch between guess-the-flag and name-the-country modes?
Yes. Choose the direction before starting: identify a country from a flag or select a flag for a named country.
Are all world flags included in every round?
No. Each round selects 20 questions from the stated national-flag pool. Historical and territorial flags are outside this introductory activity.
What should I compare when two flags look similar?
Look at stripe order, orientation, symbols and proportions. A shared colour palette alone does not establish that the flags are identical.
Why might a flag image fail to appear?
Images are supplied by an external flag service. If one does not load, check the connection or replay later rather than guessing from a blank area.
Will I see a review of the countries behind the flags?
Yes. Feedback identifies the country and the results screen keeps the correct answer available for review.
